August 2008-Ruthven Luau

A Ruthven Luau was held in August 2008 to help raise funds for the celebration and for the Fire Department.  The original "Looking Back" oil painting was also auctioned off.  The fire department grilled and held a motorcycle fun run that visited other area fire departments.

Speltz Print

Approximately 10 volunteers committed to selling the Ruthven Quasquicentennial print "Looking Back" created by JD Speltz from the Speltz Studio of Wildlife in Armstrong, Iowa. The volunteers were very successful as 209 prints were sold with number 210 being held for an auction during the Quasquicentennial celebration in July 2009.  The print was created based on a photo from downtown Ruthven in the 1940's.

History Book

A history book committee was formed to help create a book that would be a continuation of the Ruthven Centennial Book created in 1984.  Family histories were solicited, businesses were approached and contributed with articles and ads, military histories were gathered, and the book was formed.  It is very well constructed book that is going to last for generations!  The committee is very proud of their accomplishment.
