Mayor & City Council

The form of government of the City of Ruthven is the Mayor-Council form of government. (Code of Iowa, Sec. 372.4)

POWERS AND DUTIES OF CITY OFFICERS.  The Council and Mayor and other City officers have such powers and shall perform such duties as are authorized or required by State law and by the ordinances, resolutions, rules, and regulations of the City.

NUMBER AND TERM OF COUNCIL.  The Council consists of five Council Members elected at large for overlapping terms of four years (Code of Iowa, Sec. 376.2)

TERM OF MAYOR.  The Mayor is elected for a term of two years.  (Code of Iowa, Sec. 376.2)
